20 Amp OEM Laser Diode Driver Overview

The LDD-1303 is an OEM high performance current source that is primarily designed to operate in CW mode. Basic system status is visually indicated by on-board LEDs, more detailed status information can be polled at any time.

The LDD-1303 can operate in a stand-alone configuration as well as in a remotely-controlled manner, with parameters adjusted on the fly. The laser diode driver is current-PID-controlled.

Equipped with optional light measurement circuitry, the LDD-1303 can also be operated as a Laser Power Controller (LPC).

Low Noise Output / Industry Leading Laser Diode Protection Features

These modules are innovative current drivers that contain a proprietary current source able to precisely drive laser diodes in pulsed or CW mode. It can be equipped with an optional laser power measurement circuit / photo-diode input. The LDD-1303 can also monitor laser diode temperature (NTC thermistor input) and includes an auxiliary thermistor input to monitor the heatsink temperature. The LDD-1303 is fully digitally controlled; the firmware is upgradeable to offer various communication options and to meet specific customer requirements.

USB and RS485 Interfaces with Control Software

Configuration parameters further include: control source selection, maximum current limits, nominal current ramping, PID controller settings, NTC temperature sensor modeling coefficients, measurement circuitry calibration, error thresholds, etc. The LDD-1303 is configured over an industry-standard RS485 or a USB connection, either GUI-driven using the included LDD Service Software, or by direct parameter control using the predefined communication protocol.

The included PC-Software (USB / RS485) facilitates configuration, control, and real-time monitoring of the LDD-1303. All device settings are saved in non-volatile memory and can be backed up and restored.

The LDD-1303 is part of the LDD family of Meerstetter laser diode drivers, which are designed to operate alongside devices of the TEC family of Peltier controllers.
