Product Overview:

100 Amp, 30V Laser Driver Overview

The high power LDI-880 drivers offers a current range of 100 amps at a compliance voltage up to 30 volts. These high power drivers were designed to safely bias laser diode bars and arrays connected in series, laser diode stacks and other multi-emitter devices. The drivers feature multiple levels of built-in laser diode protection which have been optimized for laser bars and arrays. They are used to safely power the newest generation of pump lasers from companies such as Jenoptik, Northrop Grumman CEO and Coherent.

Laser Diode Driver Key Features

These drivers feature a user programmable soft-start ramp of the bias current to the laser diode. The factory sets the ramp time to 300 milliseconds as the default, but the user can adjust this time period from one millisecond up to tens of seconds. This current ramp-up and ramp-down function is designed to protect the laser from thermal shock during power-up and power-down sequences. In addition to CW mode, these drivers offer a Quasi-CW / pulsed mode and have an on-board function generator. Pulse widths as narrow as 30 microseconds are achievable.

Laser Diode Bar and Array Protection Features

The driver offer standard laser driver protection features such as current limit and power surge clamps to make sure that your laser diode is protected at all times. The LDI-880 also has AC line filters and a fast response to shunt the current in the event of an open-circuit. Additionally, these drivers offer a user programmable soft start current ramp to reduce the possibility of thermal shock to the bar or array device under test.

User Interface

The -880 features front-panel controls for fast and simple setup, and includes an RS232 interface with LabView drivers. An optional USB digital interface is available; inquire for details on ordering the USB control option.

Rear Panel Connectors and Interface

The driver utilizes a high current rear panel connector, and there are multiple cabling options available to ensure reliable connection to your device under test.

*Compliance Voltage Range: the maximum output power with 110VAC input is 2kW (ie 100A @20V); maximum output power with 230VAC input is full range specification 3kW
