Product Overview:

The LDM-95W high power laser diode heat sink and mounting module is a high performance mounting solution designed for fiber coupled and free-space laser diodes. It is an "all-air" cooling design which precisely stabilizes the temperature or your laser. The surface of the mounting plate was designed with micron level surface flatness and finish tolerances. Standard mounting plates with pre-drilled hole footprint patterns are available for most package styles. A high reliability Peltier element located under the laser mounting plate works with the embedded 10K thermistor to provide fast heat removal and stable temperature control.

Peltier and Fan Cooled Heat Sink:
The LDM-95W is an actively cooled heat sink which utilizes a TE cooler under the laser mounting plate as well as dual fans in the base. The heat emitting from the laser diode is conducted down through the laser mounting plate throughthe low thermal impedance mounting plate surface. Dual fans located in the base of the cooling block assembly dissipate the heat from the base of the block into the air. The LDM-95W offers a low thermal impedance of < 0.06 K/W. The overall performance of a heat sink is highly dependent on the thermal impedance, or resistance. The thermal resistance allows the user to determine the amount of temperature rise that the laser diode will experience for each watt of thermal energy that is emitted from the laser. The dual fans in the base greatly improve the thermal performance of the heat sink and allow the user to set the laser temperature to a set-point which is equivalent to the lab ambient temperature. Careful machining of the mounting plate surface finish and surface flatness are also crucial to the heat sink performance.
