Affordable Heat Sink and Fan Assembly for Conduction-Cooled Laser Diodes

The HS-022 is a versatile integrated laser diode heat sink and fan assembly. It is designed for maximum flexibility across a wide range of applications in your laser diode lab and prototyping shop. The HS-022 is an affordable solution for a wide range of laser cooling applications. It is optimized for removing high amounts of heat away from the laser diode. The HS-022 provides laser heat dissipation capacity of 50 watts with 12 ºC temperature rise. The HS-022 heatsink is ideal for a wide variety of fiber-coupled laser diode packages and modules, IGBTs, and high-heat test loads.

Low Thermal Resistance for High Heat-Flux Laser Diodes

The heat sink housing is designed to be placed on a flat surface or optical table. The high fin-density heat sink is enclosed in a sheet metal duct to direct the entire volume of forced air over the fins, thereby providing the low thermal resistance 0.22 ºC/W (tested with a 1-inch square heat-load attached to the mount plate). This low thermal resistance means that for every 10 Watts of power input to the heat-sink mounting plate, the temperature of the heatsink surface will rise 2.2 ºC.
