75 Amp Pulsed OEM Laser Diode Driver Overview

The LDD-1137 is a new and advanced laser diode driver, available in two models: CW Output and Pulsed Output. New technologies like eGaN FETs enable faster pulses, improved wave forms, and better efficiency. A new processing core enables a faster processor connection to the powerful FPGA, more interfaces, more precise timing, and additional functions, while still maintaining a 1.5 mA resolution and keeping a very low output ripple.

Equipped with optional light measurement circuitry, the LDD-1137-LPC can also be operated as a Laser Power Controller (LPC).

Fast Rise Time, CW-Chopping Pulsed Mode

The LDD-1137 maintains low-ripple output current in the pulsed regime using a chopped-CW drive circuit; ripple currents of ~0.2% are possible. A 64,000 point look-up table is stored internally for output of arbitrary current wave-forms, a first for compact OEM laser diode driver modules.

Low Noise Output / Industry Leading Laser Diode Protection

These modules are innovative current drivers that contain a proprietary current source able to precisely drive laser diodes in pulsed or CW mode. It can be equipped with an optional laser power measurement circuit / photo-diode input. The LDD-1137 also monitors laser diode temperature (NTC thermistor input). The LDD-1137 is fully digitally controlled; its firmware is upgradeable to offer various communication options and to meet specific customer requirements.

USB and RS485 Interfaces with Control Software

The included PC-Software (USB / RS485) facilitates configuration, control, and real-time monitoring of the LDD-1137. All device settings are saved in non-volatile memory and can be backed up and restored. For remote / OEM applications, the LDD-1137 may be fully controlled by a system bus that features RS485 communication, pulse, interlock and 6 reserve lines.

The LDD-1137 is part of the LDD family of Meerstetter laser diode drivers, which are designed to operate alongside devices of the TEC family of Peltier controllers.
