Product Overview:

These affordable laser diode drivers offer a maximum output of 120 Amps, 4 Volts and can operate in high power constant current or QCW mode. They are designed to power laser bars and arrays requiring high current ranges with low voltage. They offer an integrated function generator for generating QCW pulses from 25 microseconds to CW. They also run full CW power up to 120 Amps. They are designed specifically to safely bias fiber coupled bar modules and CCP style copper mount bars from companies such as DILAS and Coherent. These units come with a front panel that is easy to operate as well as both RS232 and USB digital interface. They include LabView drivers. The internal QCW pulse generator offers 25 μs to CW rise time and fall times for slow pulse driving of laser diode bars. The QCW pulse mode feature is capable of delivering and supporting continuous pulses, single pulses and pulse bursts which are internally or externally triggered.

Customized Protection for High Power Laser Bars and Arrays:
These current sources feature multiple levels of built-in laser diode protection which have been optimized for bars and arrays. One of the unique features is a user programmable soft-start ramp of the bias current to the device under test. The factory sets the ramp time to 300 milliseconds as a default, but the user can adjust this time period from 1 millisecond up to 10's of seconds. This current ramp up and down function is designed to protect the laser from thermal shock during power up and down sequences. In addition to this soft-start ramp, these drivers offer features such as current limit, a brown-out and black-out power surge clamp, AC line filters and a fast response to shunt the current in the event of an open circuit. The LDC-154 utilizes high current M4 style connectors on the rear panel and there are multiple cabling options available to ensure reliable connection to your device under test.

User Interface:
These systems come with a standard RS-232 interface and can be ordered with an optional USB interface. LabView drivers are available at no charge. A LabView GUI makes set-up and control of the system fast and simple. The user also has complete control through an intuitive front panel menu / LCD display with a key pad.
