Product Overview:

These high power laser diode drivers were designed and optimized to safely drive multi-emitter laser diode modules and devices connected in series. They offer a combination of high current and high compliance voltage. The standard current and voltage range for this model offers up to 600 watts with 20 amps of bias current and 30 volts of compliance voltage. On request, the current and voltage can be configured to match any customer specified range with a total of 600 Watts of output power to the laser. These current sources provide the latest technology in laser diode protection, and precision current output. They are offered with a LabView drivers and control software. For fast set-up, the user can have the driver up and running in minutes using the intuitive front panel menu and command keys. The standard model ships with an RS232 digital interface and USB can be ordered as an option. Updated LabView drivers are included. These drivers operate with full range output in both CW and QCW pulse modes. They have an on-board pulse generator for microsecond level pulses or can be triggered from an external source.

Protection Features Specifically for High Voltage Multi-Emitter Laser Diodes and Series Connected Devices:
The LDC-250HV was designed with features to protect expensive multi-emitter pumps. They are used to safely bias 8XX through 9XXnm pumps with output power levels from 20 Watts to 300 Watts from companies such as Lumentum and II-VI laser. A fast analog control loop and shut-down sequence monitors for any open circuit condition to make sure that the drive current is quickly shorted in the event a laser fails as an open circuit. The user has the option to set the exact time ramp for the current soft-start feature. The factory default time setting is 300 milliseconds. The current soft-start prevents the device under test from potential damage from thermal shock. Other protection features include a user set current limit and extensive power surge clamp circuits to prevent damage from shore power brown outs, black outs and ESD.

Flexible Modulation and QCW Pulse Modes:
In addition to CW (continuous wave) mode of operation, the 250HV offers flexible modulation capabilities and an integrated QCW mode. The user can apply a TTL digital or analog modulation input through the rear panel BNC. The controller has an internal function generator which can be used to set the modulation signal or the quasi-CW pulses with a time base accuracy of 1.0%. In QCW mode, the user can also set the pulses from a remote TTL signal source.

User Interface:
These systems come with a standard RS-232 interface and can be ordered with an optional USB interface. LabView drivers are available at no charge. A LabView GUI makes set-up and control of the system fast and simple. The user also has complete control through an intuitive front panel menu / LCD display with a key pad.
